Preschool Graduation

Miss E has her last day at preschool today. Last week they had their graduation.

They displayed some of their art work and did a performance show. Miss E had practiced all day and was super excited. But of course she got a boo boo right before the show. Usually she is loud when preforming, but this time she was pretty quiet and upset....These pictures were taken before the "incident"....But all in all it was fun. Kindergarten next!

My very generous friend Susan shower me with gifts all the time! Last time She gave me this beautiful plant, that will at some point go outside. She also gave me this interior decorating book by my favorite, Rachel Ashwell. Very shabby chic! Lots of inspiration in it!
Thank you so much! I'm a lucky woman!

Hipp hipp hurra!!!

Happy birthday Norway!
We got our own constitution in 1814, but we didn't get our own King and total Independence before 1905. Not that long ago really.

My girls all dressed in bunads (or festdrakt). In Norway, on May 17th, everyone dresses up and celebrates. These dresses are traditional costumes, there are a ton of different ones, but yet they are sort of similar. My oldest has some jewelry that goes with it. The girls looks so cute and Norwegian! So fun for a proud mom!

In Norway, there are children's parades, games and fun to celebrate the day.
We celebrated with friends at Son's of Norway. We had a great time, almost like I was home....almost... But I am going home Thursday! Yeah! For 3 weeks! I will not be doing any blogging there, so my site will be quiet...

Baby A is finally getting the hang of walking, she does not want to be still.....just in time for 15 hour plane rides!

He's baaaaack!!!!

It's kind of hard to tell from these pictures, but this is a black bear. Almost every night last summer he came for a visit, and made a mess of our trash. At first it was exciting, then it got annoying! And now he is back! He's been in the back yard, on our patio and up front. Last summer we would see him, or her, from 9.30 at night til 7 am. It made going outside a little scary....

I hope the Division of Wildlife decides to remove him!

My mother-in-law with my husband 34 years ago.

She has been a wonderful mother from day one, and a wonderful mother-in-law! We love you a lot, and really appreciate you!

My mother and me many years ago.

She too has been a wonderful mother. We love you very much and appreciate everything you do!

Happy mothers day to you, and every mom out there!

The other night my husband was shaving of his "Winter" hair and goatee. He was goofing around and this is the result he came up with!
(Punk and cop look doesn't really go well together..)

He was totally joking of course, but my daughter proclaims:
"Daddy, you look PERFECT! I'm DEFINITELY going to marry you now!"

We all have different taste I guess...

Hand soap # 2

Here is recipe # 2:
(It can easily be adjusted)
Mix 2 1/2 cups of sugar with 1 cup extra virgin oil. Add 4 tbs lemon juice ( or scented oil). This recipe is enough for 12 oz Mason jar. Mix until gritty paste forms.

For my super allergic friend I used canola oil and essential oil, hopefully that will work fine as well....

Have a great day!

Frugal gift

Miss E's pre-school graduation is next week, so I've been thinking about teacher's gifts....Like most people these days, I have to watch every dollar I spend, so I've been searching blogland for ideas. I found some great ones! I forgot where I saw this, but this was wonderful. Exfoliating hand soap!

Here is recipe # 1:
Fill a mason jar with sugar almost to the top
Add Dawn liquid soap (with Olay beauty). It smells good!
Use a knife to stir up - til paste like. After one jar, I decided to measure up in the jar then pour in a bowl and mix, then pour back in the jar. Otherwise it was hard to get all the sugar mixed up.

Then, make sure you have a tight lid. Embellish with tags, ribbons and fabric. Make it pretty!
And yes, I did try it out and it was great! Left my hands super soft and they smelt good!

I'll post recipe # 2 tomorrow!

Prinsesse E had her dance recital (one of two) yesterday.

She and all the little girls looked so cute. They were all so fun to watch!

Grandma, pretty dress and flowers! How much fun for a little dancer....

This is what May looks like! It just totally put you in the Christmas spirit! Seriously! This has to stop! We had a very mild winter and I guess we're having a very harsh spring. This stinks! Everyone else in blogland are picking spring flowers and planting gardens... :(
