Back home!

We are back home to snow and chills...
Me and hubby just came back from beautiful Cozumel, Mexico.
We stayed at an all inclusive resort - totally the way to go! It was just beautiful and great! Food and drinks available at all hours! Tips included!

We went on little and big excursions; boating, jeeping, snorkeling and beaching!

The weather was great, and me and hubby had a lot of fun together. We got lots of rest and just enjoyed being grown-ups! (The kids stayed home with grandma.)

On our last day we got to see one of the worlds new seven wonders; Chichen-Itza. It's an ancient Mayan town on the mainland. It was absolutely amazing and so very interesting! Their calendar and knowledge, -you really have to ask yourself if aliens were involved.... I know that sounds crazy, but so was all the information we got about these Mayans! Very cool!

Well, now back to everyday life, responsibilities and parenthood. And I do love those things too!

Our party

We had a lot of fun with our friends on Valentine's. We set a fancy table with rose petals and candy.

-Old fancy china from grandma, lip gloss napkin ring and a cute little marshmallow bear...

Double fudge chocolate cupcakes... Heart shaped tea sandwiches and salads. Tea and coffee...

...and a bunch of wonderful little princesses!

(Here are the two hosts...)

Yummy sweets...

...for my sweethearts.
These adorable chocolate "cupcakes" are from Wal-Mart. I could not resist buying them, they are so darn cute! And these I'm actually saving for myself! One more week of the no sugar part of my diet, then I will enjoy these on quiet moments I have to myself...can't wait!

These little sugar cookies are from Nestle. Another product I could not resist...they have the cutest vintage design on them! All valentine themed - just too cute! (My baby wouldn't agree though, she did not appreciate the printed pictures - yuk!)

Last, but not the least, my own creations. They sure don't look professional and as decadent as the other sweets, but these are what I crave the most. I melted chiradelli (?) chocolate, brown and white, and added crushed walnuts, almonds and peanuts. Yum is all I can say!
Hopefully my family will appreciate these, since these are going to be given on Valentine's day. We don't give each other expensive gifts or go out to eat, but a nice card and some chocolate goes a long way. And a special dinner at home. This year pink pancakes! - Another product I could not resist, with blueberries. Breakfast for dinner on Valentine's Day I know, but I think it will be OK. And remember I have small children, who probably would not appreciate something too sophisticated.

Anyways, I had a great day with my oldest today. We went shopping in the big city, and I got lots of new clothes! It was so much fun! And in one more week me and hubby are off to Mexico! I am SO excited!

Sugar Scrub

Sugar sweet party favours for our Valentine's Party (just for the mom's)
- Homemade sugar scrub...

I've made these before and I really like it - even my husband does! It's just sugar mixed with Dawn's dish soap (with Olay). It smells lovely and leaves your skin silky soft.

I used my very treasured Tilda paper and ribbon - the sweetest design! I love the many uses you can get from Mason jars as well. Reuse and produce!

I love my great friends and hope they will like these as much as I do!

Pillowcases

A few years ago my sister made me these wonderful pillowcases. With their little valentine and love angels, they are perfect for this time of year!

I'm not sure how she made these, but I know she somehow ironed the images on, then "framed" them with gorgeous lace.

I love these old motifs - totally my style!

Now if only my big lovable dog wouldn't lay on them every time I leave the house!

Homemade flowers

I made myself some flowers yesterday. I think they came out pretty cute!

They are made of coffee filters. How cool is that! All I did was separating a bunch of them, put them in a bowl of hot water and added food coloring. I chose a red color that turned my carnation a dainty pink. I also soaked a bunch in tea water, but that is for another project.

When the filters are dry, all you do is make a hole in the middle and poke a thin stick through. Then twist the flowers and put tape at the bottom, add two more layers like this. You can shape them into carnations, poppies and even roses. This is a really cheap an fun craft! You can make wreaths, banners, bouquets or simple flowers!

More banners

I love banners! They are so cute AND easy to make. I like easy to make!

This one says "sweetheart".

This one says "love".
I'm working on another 'Valentine's' project that I'm excited to show you. Hopefully it will be done tomorrow.

Movie night

I love to have little girls. I always got sad thinking about them growing up. But as I am finding out, as I'm sure every mom finds out, they really do get more fun with age...

My big girl is getting close to six, and I thought she would be ready to watch "Road to Avonlea" with me. And she was. We both love that TV series!

It's so fun to have someone to cuddle up on the couch with (other than hubby). -To enjoy the beauty of Prince Edwards Island and the way life used to be. Miss E loves the olden days just as much as me! The beautiful clothes, dishes, linens, wallpaper and the list goes on...

To enjoy the fancy, simple life of days gone by I had to make a fancy brownie cake for us to enjoy! And Miss Fancy did! I love my little girlfriends (who are growing up to be great friends)!

Have a great weekend!

For Savannah

Savannah is my little unborn niece, who I will get to meet this summer.... :)

I knitted her some tiny Mary-Jane's, with big "flowers" attached. Hopefully they are not too much. (I kind of like to go over the top with little girls!)

I think they are cute, hope her mama does too!
We are heading into a very busy weekend for my family, several birthday parties and the big Daddy, Daughter dance!- A very anticipated party for my little girl and husband! I think we will all have a lot of fun.
Happy Birthday little Talon!
