Tooth fairy

Yesterday at school, the tooth came out! This is her first tooth and it was very exciting!

I made a tooth fairy pillow, to keep track of the tooth - and because it's fun!
The tooth fairy came, left money and forgot to remove the tooth... So now she wants to see if she comes back tonight! Greedy little princess...:)

Holly Hobbie!

I love Holly Hobbie. A couple of weeks ago I got this retro book from a friend who had gotten it at a garage sale. It's faded on the outside, but perfect on the inside. I don't think it has been read much. It is so very sweet.

Holly Hobbie has evolved since my childhood, and there are 4-5 movies out now about her great granddaughter, Holly Hobbie. It's a very sweet and Innocent cartoon set in our time. I love watching them with my girl! (And I don't like cartoons normally).

It also has the sweetest song "Just like you". I don't remember the name of the singer, but her voice and the words make me teary eyes every time I see it. You can check it out on YouTube. Sorry I don't have the link...It's about how she looks just like her great grandmother and how they would be the best friends if they ever met....makes you think and dream!
Miss E likes to visit http://www.hollyhobbie.com/ for fun online games for girls ( and mom's).

Positive and cute!

This doll is Holly's friend Carrie!

Sewing

Now that it summer is coming towards an end, I've been feeling the urge to knit and sew again. Here is a table runner I made, and a big tablecloth for the kitchen. The patterns are pretty summery, but oh well. The days still get pretty hot even though there is frost in the mornings. That by the way, makes dressing a kid for school a little difficult...

This year I am going to try to evolve my sewing skills just a tiny tad, there are so many things I wish I could create...

First day of school

Today was the big day, and Miss E is feeling better.

She is safely dropped off at the school and she seemed to be OK. I hope she will remember her day and tell her mommy all about it!
I cried all last week, feeling I'm loosing my baby. I was for sure I would sob today, but I didn't. Instead me and a friend went and had coffee, and afterwards I decided to cut my hair. Pure impulse! I seem to do that when big changes happens. So far I like it, it's shoulder length with shorter layers:)
Anyways, I am so proud of my big girl! I'm sure she will love kindergarten!

Here Miss E and her super cute friend, Miss A, are at the school. Can you believe Miss E is the younger one? They are so sweet with each other, and we love her and her family very much!
(In this picture Miss E is wiggling her loose tooth. She is very proud and cant wait for it to fall out.)

OK, now all I got to do is wait for my baby to come home....

Love it!

A friend of mine canned green beans and gave me one! We eat a lot of them in this household, but I've never tried canned before...

She also made this little tablecloth. It's oh so cute....

She used Cath Kidston fabric, which we both totally adore! Why is there no Cath Kidston store in the US? I want one!
Maybe I will start one myself....with Green Gate stuff too!

Anyways, my friend is planning an Etsy store, "Catching Dragonflies by twogirls62"( it's not ready yet...)But, check out her stuff when it is.

I think maybe I will start one too....I love Etsy!

Baby gift

I have four friends who are having baby boys about this time.
( Anna had hers last week. Congratulations to her! )
I have made my girls hooded towels before, and they are so great to use. -And so easy to make. So I made one for one of the babies and will probably make more.
All you do is purchase one large towel and one hand towel. Cut the hand towel in half, and sew one of the parts on to the large towel. And sew the small towel shut at the top. And that is that! I like to embellish the towel with ribbon. On this towel I used ribbon with footballs, knowing the family are football fans.

All ready to keep a beautiful little baby warm and snugly after his bath!

Comfort or freedom?

Last Thursday our 20 month old tried to climb out of her crib, and she was really close...so we decided to put her in her toddler bed.

She slept in it the first night and seemed to like it....

And since then, she has gotten out of bed and slept on the floor by the door. Wonder how long she will be doing that? It can't be too comfortable... Our oldest, when she slept in her toddler bed, she would never come out. She would just lay there crying for us when she wanted out...she was so easy!

Camping

We went camping last weekend. The area was absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately the weather was horrible, expect the last day. It was gorgeous then of course. We went tubing down the river that day.I love tubing! We lost an oar and a flip flop, but caught up with both of them further down the river. That was pretty funny!

Today I have a big church garage sale I have to help price, then this weekend I have to help doing it. Hopefully Sunday will be boating weather...fall is sneaking up on us. Some of the trees are turning already! And the rain keeps coming! Enough already!

Have a great day!

Afternoon snack

With some brown bananas in the house I decided to make banana bread. I've actually never made that before! That is probably a shocker for my American readers...but because I'm Norwegian, banana bread is not something I grew up with, and I can't say I'm the biggest fan. However it is pretty tasty, and SO easy to make. I will for sure make it again!

Here is the recipe:

3-4 riped bananas (smashed)
1/3 cup melted butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cup flour

Preheat oven to 350f. With wooden spoon mix mashed bananas with butter. Mix sugar, egg & vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix. Add the flour last. Mix together. Pour into a 4x8 buttered pan. Bake for 1 hour. Enjoy!

We ate ours with blueberry jam!

New flowers and "pots"

My sweet friend gave me these wonderful buckets, knowing that I adore them. They are all really worn, but I love them that way!

At the grocery store they had geraniums for .50 cents a piece! I have no clue what color they are, but that will be a wonderful surprise! If I have learned one lesson this summer, it's that I still kill most of my flowers. I do however, manage to keep my geranium blooming and I'm amazed at that. So when summer is over these will all come inside, and hopefully keep me happy all winter long!

At the store they also had 3 miniature roses for $10! I totally adore these little beauties, and I've had good luck with these before as well.
They don't smell much, but certainly add a lot of charm!

Have a great weekend!

Homemade gatorade

I came across a recipe for homemade Gatorade on the net. I'm not sure if it taste like Gatorade or cool-aid, but it was good. Anyways, here are the ingredients:

32 oz H2O

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 tsp.salt

1/2 packet unsweetened cool-aid

1tsp. lemon juice

mix together and enjoy!
(It was also the recipe for pedialyte. So when needed, this is way cheaper and tastier than the real stuff!)
